Sustainability
Our success depends on the successful relationships we build with investors, customers, governments, business partners, non-government organizations, and community members.
Establishing positive and productive relationships is woven throughout our Core Values, which include honesty, integrity, fairness, accountability, consideration of others, and citizenship. Our commitment is to engage with our stakeholders and to do so openly and honestly.
We publicize information related to our sustainability efforts and openly share information in such areas as environment, safety, and community activities.
We actively reach out to the wide range of stakeholder groups that are affected by the work we do. We use a broad assortment of communication tools to reach out to the customers we serve, the communities in which we operate, and our business partners. We also communicate regularly with public representatives and regulatory agencies to address important policy issues.
Our investors are key stakeholders, and we maintain ongoing efforts to inform them of our company activities. Each year we support hundreds of community-based organizations in their efforts to make our communities better places to live. We contribute hands-on efforts to community events and host our own open houses so that community members can get to know Granite and its operations.
Getting involved in the communities in which we live, work, and operate is a key aspect of our corporate culture. Each year we support hundreds of community-based organizations nationwide in efforts that are often implemented by our own employee volunteers.
One of Granite’s Core Values is citizenship. To be a good corporate citizen, Granite participates in a host of philanthropic efforts in every community in which we do business. For example, we provide direct financial assistance to hundreds of nonprofit groups each year, and we donate time and materials to organizations in need. Our commitment to these initiatives spans such vital areas as humanitarian efforts, education, the arts, youth sports, senior citizens, community services, and youth agencies. Granite contributes hands-on efforts to the restoration of local baseball and softball fields and the development of track fields and playgrounds. We donate to charitable organizations like Habitat for Humanity as well as to blood drives, coat drives, food banks, homeless shelters, churches, schools, and libraries.
We also reach out to our communities to educate them about Granite and our values. Here are just a few of the programs and events we have been involved with over the past two years:
Open houses
Education and awareness events
Environmental cleanup efforts
Services for underserved community members
Cleaning up the Whitewater Preserve
Contributing land for community use
Granite’s efforts have earned our company dozens of awards for community service and environmental excellence such recognition includes the “Clean Utah” seal of approval from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality and becoming “greener” for the benefit of our communities certification by the Monterey, California ,Bay Area Green Business Program.
