Our Achievements

Granite is proud to be nationally recognized with the following community service programs:
When you look at what has been accomplished in the way of plant improvement, giving back to the communities in which they operate, market innovations and creative use of materials, you realize what a positive contribution aggregates producers make to America’s daily life, far beyond the economic benefits generated by the industry.
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) Community Involvement Award recognizes outstanding programs in the arena of community relations. This award is based on a company's complete community relations program. Eligible programs involve active participation of company employees and may include activities such as advertising, sponsorship of athletic teams and/or scholarships, outreach to schools or other not-for profit institutions, donations of paving or other construction services, community events like public meetings or open houses, etc. Employee participation is weighed heavily in the judging process.
The National Stone Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Community Relations Program recognizes aggregate producers whose community involvement and support activities have enhanced the public’s perception of the aggregates industry in general and the public image of the individual producer’s aggregate operation in particular. There are several different levels awards including the Pinnacle Award, Excellence in Community Relations and Community Achievement, Certificates of Achievement and the “Toast of the Town” Award.
The NSSGA Environmental Eagle Award provides national recognition for aggregate-producing companies actively contributing to the maintenance of the environment in and around their operations, as evidenced by a corporate commitment to the full use of environmental controls and systems. This award is based, in part, on the extent to which an operation meets and exceeds technical environmental and regulatory requirements. The Eagle Award is not based on aesthetic or beautification criteria, but an operation actively involved in the production of aggregates which meets all minimum federal, state and local regulatory requirements and standards, exhibits no pattern of violations and has not experienced any significant violations of applicable environmental standards.
The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. Named for AGC’s 1991 President, Marvin M. Black, an ardent supporter of the partnering process, the award entries are judged not only on ingenuity, size, scope and final appearance but also on the nature of the cooperative process. Partners whose projects earn this coveted prize stand out among others for their ability to achieve a common goal, resolve conflicts, improve communications, celebrate joint successes and, most importantly, incorporates team-building activities.
“Winning a Partnering Award demonstrates that the old-fashioned, hand-shake approach to project completion remains a thriving part of our industry."
