Our Neighborhood

Our employees are committed to maintaining a quality environment for their family and neighbors to enjoy for generations to come. We do this by maintaining constant attention to our aggregate mining and processing facilities during operation. This practice assures that current environmental standards are met and exceeded. Granite's Environmental Affairs Policy sets forth strong principals that guide us to strive for protection of the environment and our natural resources. Granite spends significant of time, effort, and dollars to make sure that we are good stewards of the land, which provides our living.
Aggregate mining operations can benefit many environmental settings as well as local and regional economies. Granite has experience in reclaiming mining operations and processing facilities to productive agricultural land, neighborhood parks and environmental habitats. We work with local governments and stakeholders to establish post-mining land uses that suit the needs of the surrounding communities. Examples of our successful Reclamation projects include: open space recreational areas, commercial sites, housing complexes, agricultural lands, and wildlife preserves. The pictures below display an example of how an aggregate mining and processing facility can be reclaimed to benefit the community. At this operation in Sacramento, CA, Granite has built new county government office buildings and reclaimed the mining and processing facility into a Regional Park that includes soccer fields, horseshoe pits, a dog park, picnic tables, a parking lot, a wetland preserve, and a large pond that supports abundant water fowl and a brilliant center fountain……More Amenities to Come!
