Granite Construction's Boraston Honored by NSSGA
WATSONVILLE, Calif., Sept 22, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA) announced today that Geoff Boraston, Corporate Environmental Manager, has been named the 2005 National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) Environmental Professional of the Year. This award provides recognition to an individual in the aggregates industry who has made superior and substantial contributions to his or her company's, or the industry's, efforts to achieve environmentally sound operating practices. Boraston is a registered chemical engineer in the state of California and holds a masters degree in business administration. He has twenty years experience in engineering and environmental management. Boraston joined Granite in 1995 and in 2002 was named Corporate Environmental Manager. In this role he has been instrumental in documenting and implementing Granite's Environmental Affairs Policy, providing guidance for the hiring of environmental professionals throughout the company, and then supporting these members in their work. He initiated a company-wide Environmental Management System, oversees critical environmental aspects of the company's business and helps guide the environmental vision of the company.
