Granite Awarded $22 Million Highway Reconstruction Project in California

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been awarded a $22 million contract by the California Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of State Route 14 in Indian Wells, California. Granite will book the contract into its first quarter 2017 backlog.

Granite is responsible for the reconstruction of four miles of two-lane conventional highway to a four-lane expressway which provides access to the Eastern Sierra Mountain range, highlighted by Mammoth Mountain Resort.

The scope of work includes 170 acres of clearing, 600,000 cubic yards of excavation, the creation of 300 linear feet of double ten feet by twelve feet reinforced box culvert, and 6,100 linear feet of storm drain along with erosion control, striping, signage, fencing, and electrical work.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2017 and is scheduled to be complete by second quarter of 2018.
