Granite Awarded $31 Million Intersection Improvement Project in Nevada

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been awarded a $31 million contract by the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Nevada to reconstruct and widen the Pyramid-McCarran intersection in Sparks, Nevada. Granite booked the project into backlog during the fourth quarter of 2015.

Scope of the project includes removing and replacing the existing roadway, lane widening and the construction of eight retaining walls and four sound walls. Work also includes irrigation and drainage systems, landscaping, relocation of utilities and installation of new traffic signals and an intelligent transportation system.

In addition to reducing traffic congestion, the improvements will provide safer pedestrian pathways, and beautify the area with the addition of trees and privacy screens with a decorative design selected by the community.
