Granite Awarded $50 Million Highway Improvement Contract in Nevada

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been awarded a $50 million highway improvement contract by the Nevada Department of Transportation for the US 50 Silver Springs project in Silver Springs, Nevada. The contract will be included in Granite’s fourth quarter 2018 backlog.

Scope of work includes the construction of eight miles of multilane, divided highway including a frontage road and roundabout to replace a four-way stop intersection. The project will improve driver safety by separating the opposing lanes of travel and reducing the number of occurrences of cross traffic with the addition of a frontage road. The installation of livestock fencing on both sides of the highway will help keep the local population of wildlife out of traffic lanes, reducing the number of vehicle/wildlife collisions.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2019 and conclude in early 2020.
