The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) Civil Rights Office (CRO) has named Granite’s Alaska Region as the Construction Contractor of the Year for their commitment to the success of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program.
“We are proud to support our local businesses, including those with DBE status, to continue strengthening Alaska’s infrastructure,” said Alaska Region Manager, Derek Betts. “We will continue to support the goals of the Alaska DOT and assist in outreach efforts wherever possible and feel honored by this award.”
The main objectives of the ADOT&PF DBE Program are to ensure contractors comply with DBE laws and requirements, to ensure that DBEs can compete fairly for federally funded transportation-related projects, and to ensure that only eligible firms participate as DBEs. Granite is proud to partner with ADOT&PF in this important effort.
The agency also manages the Alaska Unified Certification Program (AUCP), which is mandated by the US Department of Transportation and administered by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) Civil Rights Office (CRO), as the "one-stop" certification process which provides businesses an opportunity to participate as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) on projects funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) that are let by numerous agencies throughout the State of Alaska.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 239 airports, 10 ferries serving 35 communities, more than 5,600 miles of highway and 731 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to “Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
