Granite Wins IPI Partnering Award for LAX North Airfield Exit Taxiways Project

Granite has been honored with the IPI Partnering Award for Civil Construction Projects ($25M–$250M) for our work on the LAX North Airfield Exit Taxiways (NAET) Project in partnership with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).

This recognition celebrates the outstanding collaboration between Granite, LAWA, HNTB, Padcom DCM, and Construction Accelerator. Together, we delivered a transformative upgrade to one of the world’s busiest airports, including:

  • Construction of four new high-speed exit taxiways on Runway 6L-24R
  • Rehabilitation of HMA surfacing
  • Reconstruction of a 19-inch PCC keel section on Runway 6R-24L
  • Decommissioning of taxiways Y and Z

All of this was accomplished while maintaining safe and uninterrupted airport operations.

By embracing weekly cross-functional workshops and leveraging real-time digital collaboration tools, the team exceeded expectations by completing the project 22 days ahead of schedule and achieving $9.7 million in cost savings.

Granite is committed to innovative partnering and delivering exceptional results on complex infrastructure projects. This award reflects the teamwork, precision, and dedication of our employees and our partners.
