Granite Awarded $54 Million Highway Rehabilitation Project in Alaska

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today it has been awarded a $54 million contract by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities for the Sterling Highway Rehabilitation and Passing Lanes Project in Sterling, Alaska. The contract will be included in Granite’s second quarter 2017 backlog.

Scope of the work for this project includes the rehabilitation of 21 miles of the existing pavement, widening the highway shoulders from four feet to eight feet and the addition of eight miles of passing lanes between milepost 58 to milepost 79. Granite will construct six miles of fencing, six multi-plate tunnels intended for wildlife crossings, a bridge over East Fork Moose River and a pedestrian undercrossing for the Skyline Trail.

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2017 and is scheduled to be complete by summer 2019. For more information visit the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities website.
